Sustainable Design
We approach each project with holistic energy and environmental design techniques in order to save operating costs over the life cycle of the building. We seek proper building orientation and placement of windows to allow efficient use of free natural daylight. We focus on very efficient heating and cooling systems and have completed several projects using Geothermal Systems. Our 350,000 square foot Brunswick High School Geothermal System is saving Glynn County Schools over $12 million in the first 20 years of operation.
Our own office building achieved a LEED Gold Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) from the USGBC (United States Green Building Council).  The building utilizes specifically calculated overhangs and window placement to maximize the use of reflected daylight from the south and soft ambient daylight from the north. Many of the building materials are local as well as recycled and recyclable. The building uses a Geothermal System for heating and cooling.
